Respect the GAME: That's the only rule we will have. What does it mean? What does it encompass? We'll find out Monday evening (March 6th, 2005) at roughly 5:53 pm at Prosser Heights Elementary. The groundwork to setting team rules will have taken place prior to this meeting, but the final approval will be a TEAM vote. Players will be held accountable and the team captain will deal with issues relating to this. As a coaching staff we are looking for certain types of players. We want players who fit "our mold". "ABO" is our motto which means we could have a "revolving door" at the varsity level. Play hard, play smart and don't let your teammates down is all we ask. To re-inforce our commitment to this program, small details will never be overlooked and we expect our players "to think" and understand the situations. This comes from experience, understanding the game and (this could be a surprise to many) actually watching the game on TV. Pet Peeves:

WARNING: Most of you know me as your elementary PE teacher. Some of you have had me as a coach for some time and others for a short while. I can honestly tell you that I take High School baseball very seriously and I am not the same person on the field. I have always practiced to win, coached to our strengths and expected more of you on the field than in PE or those Babe Ruth baseball games. Get ready to work and get ready to pick each other up. We do not tolerate players that goof off, are late and have no respect for themselves or the game. BIG FISH SMALL POND How many players on last years team made 1st team All-Valley? Did anyone make 2nd team? Honorable Mention? From what I heard, we might have one person on this years team who received any post season honor. What this tells me is that we should not see anyone on this years team who thinks they have a "Lock" on any position. Baseball will humble you quicker than any sport I have ever coached or played. We are looking for players who WANT TO MAKE THE PLAYERS AROUND THEM BETTER as well as THEMSELVES. And for Heavens Sake: Don't blame last years coaches for your lack of success. It takes 9 players, situational players and 2 coaches to win a game. We will have you prepared, we will practice the fundamentals over and over and over again. And when you think we have done enough of the fundamentals, we will do them again, over and over and over again. We have a lot of catching up to do and it starts DAY 1 on March 6th and will finish sometime in July. Practices will start at 3:10 sharp. Make sure and be on time and remember to check your ATTITUDE at the gate, before you step onto the field.
